A look into the future...       Twenty years have passed since the events that occurred in "Rifts". Times have changed. Technology has advanced. Gone are the smaller and slower e-frames that helped win so many battles. In their place are larger, more powerful machines of war. The most advanced of these, dubbed veritechs, are descendants of the technology used in the now obsolete exo-converting e-frames. As the name implies, these new e-frames possess a variable form making them potent and versatile weapons. Variable-form Fighters (or VF's) have thus become the mainstay of the exofleet. However, Exotroopers are not the only ones to have benefited from the advances in technology. Jumptroopers have learned to utilize exoframes as well. Most often referred to as mechs or mecha, these massive land based e-frames possess every bit as much firepower as their VF cousins, though they lack the ability of sustained flight. More traditional Jumptroops also exist, utilizing weaponry more reminiscent of 20 years ago. The standard member of the infantry still uses an ultra light e-frame, albeit a much more advanced one. Meanwhile, members of the armored infantry pilot a mecha.       Some things never seem to change as there is still an existing rivalry between the Jumptroops and the Exotroopers. Though tensions are quite lax between VF and mech pilots, it is almost tangible between the infantry and Exotroopers. Many members of the infantry feel there is practically no difference between the two types of pilots and, at times, infantry Jumptroops have even picked fights with mecha pilots.       Since the end of the uprisings 20 years ago, the exofleet has come to serve as a police force for monitoring the Homeworlds and all of its colonies. Many of these colonies exist outside the sol system and thus a great deal of manpower is required for defense and peacekeeping purposes. Despite the size of terran holdings and the potential inherent problems that may yet develop because of them, it is a relatively quite time. And as many young recruits look to the stars to find their destiny - as so many have done before them - one group in particular will embark on an adventure like none before it. Introduction ->
