History:
The VF-14 Hunter was an attempt on the part of the Exofleet R&D Group to design a replacement for the VA-3 Invader. While not entirely successful, the Hunter is a unique and potent weapon of war. Able to act as both a bomber and a fighter, the Hunter boasts speeds that rival both the VF-17 and the VF-19 with the maneuverability to match. Another advantage of the Hunter is its ability to take extreme punishment and still remain functional. Unlike the VF-11 or VF-19, which use an Anti-projectile Shield, the Hunter can sustain severe damage to over 40% of its armored frame and still remain 100% functional. This is thanks mostly to its generous coating of armor plating. However, its ability as a bomber is limited with respect to range and unlike the VA-3, it cannot hit surface targets from orbit. It is for this reason that the VA-3 is still in service.
Though not as useful a bomber as the VA-3, the Hunter is none the less a widely used e-frame. Many pilots are attracted to its flexibility, being more or less equally effective against surface and air targets. Others prefer the Hunter because it is both heavily armed and armored. In either case, the VF-14 has earned a loyal following of pilots and will without question remain in Exofleet service for years to come.
