History:
The Full Armor Thunderbolt Variant was Sedna Planitia's second VF-11 variant to be used by the Exofleet. It also represents a staggering amount of firepower that is second to none among e-frames. The Full Armor does pay a price for its boosted capabilities. The first and foremost is the craft's inability to change forms. The reason is the armor which gives the craft its name. Underneath the armor there is a fully functional VF-11 Thunderbolt which has the capability to convert to Walker and Fighter modes. But in order for these modes to be used, the heavy armor must be removed. This results in greatly reducing the offensive capability of the craft. However, situations may arise when this action could be necessary. Therefore, all Full Armor Variants have an armor disengagement system which can 'blow off' the armor without damaging the VF-11 underneath. Once the armor is removed, the craft functions as a typical VF-11 with matching offensive and defensive capabilities.

In addition to its form-changing restrictions, the Full Armor has limited maneuverability due to its bulk. It is also a tad slower than the VF-11 and VF-11D. To compensate for its less than stellar speed and handling, the Full armor is equipped with a 'power booster' for its Anti-projectile Shield. It fits neatly over the existing shield and greatly amplifies its defensive capability. When the armor disengagement system is activated, the booster is jettisoned from the e-frame as well as the armor. The reason being that the shield would be too big to be stored properly in Fighter Mode (it typically becomes part of the central-rear dorsal section). The force shield generated by the Heavy Armor Shield is stronger than any found among the VF-11 variants or the VF-19. It is also capable of extending its protective force shield over the entire front side of the Full Armor. However, this still leaves the rear vulnerable. So although the Heavy Armor Shield is more powerful, it by no means makes the Full Armor impervious to damage. A fact that is continually reiterated to the pilots who fly them in the hopes that they don't become too reliant on its function in battle.

In general, the VF-11 Full Armor Variant is one of the more rare e-frames in Exofleet service. Pilots tend to shy away from the opportunity to train on it for the simple reason that they prefer the versatility of an e-frame that can utilize all of its conversion modes, all the time. However, the Full Armor is not - by any means - considered useless and most often finds service as a C.S.K. (Capital Ship Killer). And as the VF-11 Thunderbolt is beginning to be replaced by the VF-19 Excalibur, it seems the Full Armor will remain in service until a suitable replacement can be designed. Since not even the VF-19 comes close to its firepower, that will be a long time indeed.
