History:
Following the successful introduction of the VBA-1, the Eltorian Guard proceeded to develop three additional models. The last of these was the VBA-4 D'Raria. Terrans have noted a passing resemblance of the D'Raria to the VA-3 Invader. While the shape is somewhat reminiscent of the bomber, that is where the similarities end. The D'Raria represents the fastest and most maneuverable VBA in the Eltorian military. In fact, the only craft known to be faster than the VBA-4 is the Terran VF-4 - and that is by a very narrow margin. The VBA-4 packs an impressive array of plasma-based armament in addition to Terran-style missiles. This makes it most effective in air-to-air combat, thought it is still formidable against surface targets as well.

Like all VBAs, the D'Raria has limited regenerative capacity - making the craft far more resilient than one might expect given its relatively sparse armor plating. Its main defensive advantage is its maneuverability. Thus the VBA-4 is only flown by the very best of the Eltorian Guard. An arrangement of necessity, considering how dependent the life of the pilot is on their skill with the machine.

The name D'Raria is taken from an aquatic animal native to the planet Kultoria. Known for its speed and grace in the water, the VBA-4 was modeled to resemble the creature in fighter mode. Terran pilots that have seen the D'Raria have given the craft their own nickname. Ironically enough, it is also taken from an aquatic animal: The Manta.
