HISTORY:     James is the younger twin child of Cy and Nara Sterling. Born five minutes after his sister Tasha, the two could not be more different. Where Tasha grew up serious and oftentimes temperamental, James was carefree and easy going. Born from parents who were both Eltorian hybrids, James has the unusual distinction of being the only member of the Sterling family who is completely human. While one would think the condition of his birth might lead to some jealousy with his sister, the opposite has proven true. For while Tasha was being carefully watched to ensure she did not accidentally anyone with her abilities, James was given a relatively free reign about the Sterling homestead. Growing up on Venus, James took full advantage of this freedom. He would get into all sorts of mischief either on his own or with his friends. As he developed into a young man, his escapades came to include complex love triangles and excessive partying.     Based on those facts, and Tasha's accounts, one might think that the Sterlings were bad parents. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. The fact of the matter is that although James did get himself into a lot of trouble growing up, he never got away with any of it. He was always caught and reprimanded accordingly. While this didn't dissuade James from finding trouble again, he did start to think a bit more before acting. As a result, he started getting into less trouble, less often. This is an aspect of James' upbringing that his sister Tasha either was not a witness too or refused to believe the truth of it.     In the end, James emerged from his wild teenage years as a mature adult. During this time he had finished college and began working in the family company on Venus. A competent businessman, James has done well for himself as a Burns Plantation Executive. He has even ceased his romantic escapades and settled into a faithful monogamous relationship - though he has yet to identify with whom. This has led to a great deal of speculation amongst family members - particularly Tasha - about the woman's identity. James has said that he would introduce his new love when the time is right, but not before. One of the likely reasons is that she may not be aware of his past indiscretions. Therefore James may want time to make her aware on his timetable, as opposed to finding out second hand from someone else. Regardless of the reason, it hasn't discouraged Tasha from trying to find out her identity. In the meantime James continues to work for the family company, growing more and more comfortable with his role as a corporate leader. Though it has not been stated out loud, it is generally assumed that one day James will assume control of the Burns Plantation from his parents.
