Stan was born and raised on Venus where he quickly fell in with the 'wrong crowd' and ran into trouble with the law as a youth. A couple of years in a juvenile detention center changed his attitude and sharpened his tongue to a razor's edge. Now determined more than ever not to get caught, Stan returned to Venus society and ran a number of clever petty scams. And though never caught again by the law, he came close on several occasions. In the end, it was his elusive nature that saved his life when the Neosapian War broke out. Faced with extermination, it was people like Stan that gathered up the remaining terran population of Venus and kept them hidden from Draconis's shock troops. Stan became one of those assigned with the difficult task of finding food for Venutians to eat. Though frequently unsuccessful in his efforts, he was regarded as one of the best food scouts. This was because successful or not, he always returned to base to try again. His work in the Venutian resistance eventually brought him into contact with James Burns, who he met on two occasions. Whether he realizes Nara Burns of Able Squad is related to him, is anyone's guess. Stan would remain on Venus for the remainder of the war. Working primarily as a long range scout, he had little to no contact with other humans during much of the war, communicating his reports via radio to various resistance outposts. It was only during the final push to retake Venus that Stan had direct contact with both the exofleet and the resistance.
After the war, Stan decided to join the exofleet. His experience in the Venutian resistance earned him a place in the exofleet academy along side Sue Worthington and Mack Erikson. Stan and Mack immediately became friends. Though he tried, Stan and Sue just didn't seem to get along. However, through time and persistence on Stan's part, he grew on her. "Like mold on bread" as Sue is more than ready to point out. Even though being with her often results in bruised shins, Stan none the less found he enjoyed Sue's company. He hinted a number of times at the academy that he would like to be more than friends with her. Their 'hot and cold' friendship would most likely make a rocky relationship at best, especially given their vastly different backgrounds. But as Stan would say, "I do so love a good challenge!"
Due to his time as a scout, Stan has taken a distinct dislike to being alone. As a result, he has a tendency to latch onto people. Most often Sue or Mack, he later included Sterling in this category. Being small in stature, Stan developed a smart mouth to help him get noticed and, if need be, talk his way out of trouble. He also has a rather nasty habit of saying whatever is on his mind, no matter how inappropriate. To his delight and his regret, Sue Worthington has made it her personal mission to keep his mouth in check. Stan flies a modified high speed stealth attack e-frame, which was originally made by the Neos during the war. Trained as a communications/intelligence officer, Stan more often than not finds himself acting once again as a scout. Thus he performs reconnaissance for whatever unit he finds himself attached to.
