HISTORY:
Angie Merck was born and raised in Magnus City on Mars. Though not of pirate descent herself, she grew up in an area of the city heavily populated by their descendants. This is the most likely reason Angie has such an aggressive attitude. She tends to be quite defensive about her ability as a soldier and is quick to mention she is as good or better than any pirate.
Angie started her career in Exofleet within the Jumpcorps. She quickly gained notice due to her exceptional marksmanship. Truth be told, she had little choice. Angie entered the Jumpcorps sporting a tattoo over her right eye in the shape of a targeting reticule. The implication was obvious ‚ she was claiming to be a dead eye. In an effort to show Angie that she had a lot to learn, her instructors took every opportunity to test her ability with a ranged weapon. The intent was to show Angie that she was not as good as she thought she was. The effect was that it showed her instructors that not only was she that good, but she was getting better with each test of her abilities. Currently Angie still has many records for distance and accuracy that have yet to be broken.
With basic training complete, Angie spent about six months within the Jumpcorps. It was at that time her commanding officer recommended her for the armored division. So it was that Angie began to train as a mecha pilot. To the surprise of her instructors, Angie's unerring ability to hit her mark actually made a flawless transition from handheld weapons to mecha weaponry. While trained on both the Tomahawk and Defender models, Angie's preferred mecha was always the Defender as its capabilities meshed well with her fighting style.
Though Angie enjoyed her time in the Jumpcorps, she desired something more from her military career. So when her first tour of duty ended, she chose to re-enlist as an Exotrooper. She would train on the VF-4 because she was attracted to its speed and maneuverability. Following her completion of basic training, she again set several marksmanship records. This spawned several rumors about Angie's ability. Some said she had bionic implants. Others were certain genetic enhancement was involved. While still others insisted that she might be some kind of alien hybrid. Regardless of the reason, her reputation as a marksman attracted the attention of Admiral Takagi, who was putting together an elite exosquad at the time. It was her unique training, combined with her skill as a marksman, that would land her a position on said squad.
