Mandy Wang has the rather unusual distinction of never fighting with either the resistance or the exofleet. A resident of Venus before the Neosapian War, she worked as a secretary in a banking company. When the war broke out, she hid along with all other surviving Venutians from their Neosapian oppressors. Surviving on whatever she could find for food, Mandy opted to leave Venus when the exofleet offered them passage off-planet. Since it was Able Squad that helped evacuate the remaining population, it marked the first time Mandy had met Nara Burns. Though at the time, it was only in passing and the two hadn't even exchanged words.
Once off-planet, Mandy found herself at the Exofleet Io Moonbase for a time and then on the pirate homeworld of Chaos. While on Io, she made herself useful by cataloging and allocating fleet resources (i.e. - fusion packs, spare parts, field rations, etc.). It was at this time that she demonstrated her natural ability for administration. When she was moved to Chaos, her duties were extended to include the pirate resources as well. This proved to be no easy task, as the pirates were unwilling to talk about their holdings to an exofleet representative, let alone a noncombatant that happened to be a woman. But through clever manipulation and some unconventional questioning techniques (she found that a little alcohol always helped to loosen a pirate's lips), Mandy always managed to do her job. With the liberation of Venus towards the end of the Neosapian War, Mandy went back to her homeworld where she continued to catalog supplies. She would remain there until the end of the Neosapian War.
With the start of the Eltorian War, Mandy continued in the same capacity she had during the previous war. When this new conflict finally came to an end, Mandy was looking to get away from Exofleet. So she tendered her resignation and began to look for work in private business. She ended up working a few odd jobs before applying for a position as an executive assistant at the Burns Plantation. Nara Burns conducted Mandy's interview herself. Mandy immediately recognized her from years before and made mention of their previous meeting. Intrigued, Nara inquired what Mandy had done since then. Mandy then proceeded the give a synopsis of her work history which included a detailed description of the supplies allocated to Able Squad during both the Neosapian and Eltorian Wars...all from memory! Needless to say, she was hired on the spot. Since then, Nara has wondered on a number of occasions how she ever got along without her.
Mandy Wang has a photographic memory and a natural talent for administration. Though not physically intimidating, her mind is razor sharp and she has yet to meet a problem she cannot solve. She is loyal, dependable, and above all, competent. She also never forgets a face or the name that goes with it. She has the strength and stamina of a woman who engages in a moderate level of regular exercise. Through years of service to the Burns Plantation, she has become a close personal friend to Nara Burns and her husband. Having played nothing but the role of a dependable employee for so long, Mandy has recently discovered that there may be more to her life than her job.
