History:
In comparison to the other ground mecha in Exofleet service, the ADE-04 Defender is lighter and faster with increased maneuverability. Although hard to hit, the Defender is far from the most heavily armed e-frame. On the other hand, its twin barreled exocannons and missile clusters make it no push over either. The reason the Defender is so maneuverable is because it was designed to perform optimally in a terran-like environment (unlike the Phalanx which experiences a marked decrease in speed and maneuverability in similar surroundings). It can, however, function in a reduced G or Zero-G environment. Its just most at home in an Earth-like environment.

While the Defender is effective again ground-based targets, its key function is to detect and destroy flight-based targets. To assist in this capacity, the Defender has been equipped with an enhanced sensor package which includes a long range exodish radar system. Once activated, the Defender is capable of detecting a target over 40 kilometers away. And with its exocannons activated, its also capable of hitting it. For this reason, Defender pilots are often referred to as 'snipes' because their frames often act in that capacity (i.e. - as a sniper).
