HISTORY:
Carl Bennet grew up in an environment that most would call unconventional. His parents did not believe in public education, so he was home schooled. They believed that government was poisoning its population with crop pesticides, so they grew their own. They used only natural fabrics, were against cloning (and therefore the creation of Neosapians), and believed all exotechnology to be unnatural. They also taught him a number of "skills" most would consider useful to those who lived outside the law. However his parents deemed them necessary to survive in world full of disinformation, questionable technologies, and presided over by an indifferent and corrupt government.

As he entered his teenage years, Carl began to find fault with his parents' beliefs. It started with simple questioning, but was soon followed by heated arguments. Carl wanted a life more like his friends. His parents respected his individuality, as one might suspect they would, but preferred that their son hold beliefs similar to their own. In the end Carl rebelled against his unconventional parents. He decided that the best way to accomplish this was to live a more conventional life. So when the time came, Carl left home to attend Exofleet Academy.

Carl's academy days were some of the toughest of his life. In many respects, he had to adapt to a whole new lifestyle. But not only did he survive, he thrived. Carl quickly gained a reputation as a promising cadet. He prove to be a competent leader, known equally for his success ratio as much as his unconventional tactics. It was the latter of these that put him at odds with a few of his instructors. On the other hand, some of his other instructors encouraged Carl's ability to think "outside the box". By the end of academy days Carl was ranked at the top of his class. As he faced his first deployment he had just one last issue he wanted to deal with, his parents.

Carl met with his parents in an attempt to find some common ground. He admitted that he had acted rashly before leaving home and acknowledged that their unconventional way of thinking helped him at the academy. They, in turn, acknowledged that although his life had not become what they had expected, Carl had made a life for himself - one that he himself chose. The freedom of that choice was all they really wanted for him, and they were proud of him for making it on his own terms.

With his reconciliation complete, Carl was first deployed within the Sol system. He would serve as an XO for one year before being promoted to Commanding Officer of his own squad. In the next two years of service, Carl would see active duty in several different postings - including the Mulfa-Ne system. His distinguished service record did not go unnoticed, as was eventually recruited by Admiral Takagi for his most challenging assignment yet: Commander of Delta Squad.
